Ex-Rare’s Yooka-Laylee Game Hits Kickstarter, Crushed Under Weight Of Sudden Donations

I can go on all day about how various people have been living under various rocks, but let’s be straight, here; some people just might not know that Playtonic Games, made up of ex-Rare developers, have been itching to make a third Banjo-Kazooie game. The problem was, they couldn’t just make a new one — the rights to Banjo-Kazooie was so tied up in legal copyrights that even touching the fluffy bear and his birdy companion would have probably triggered a swarm of hungry lawyers.

The solution? Make a new Banjo-Kazooie game without even looking at the famous duo. The result? Yooka-Laylee, the story about a chameleon and his bat friend as they get up to fun in a jungle setting. Continue reading

Farming Simulator 2015 Coming To Consoles, Co-op Mode Currently Being Grown

FarmingSimulator15_artwork

Wishing for a title to go multi-platform is usually an act of extreme hope and optimism. Out of the current range of PC titles, it’s probably a bit of a stretch to imagine that Xbox and PS4 owners were scrambling to own the sweet, sweet tractor-based life that Farming Simulator 2015 offers. Yet, Giants Software is keen to bring the smell of manure straight into your living room with a console launch. Continue reading

Worms Bundle Throws Discount Bomb, Accidentally Hits Teammate Due To Wind

Worms_World_Party_screenshot

A lot of my childhood was spent playing Worms. Owning every game up to Armageddon, I spent a lot of time moving little pink soldiers across strange battlefields and messing up my bazooka shots like an idiot. If you, too, want to relive the greatness of the early Worms games, you’re in a great deal of luck. Continue reading

PayDay 2 Throws Another DLC Pack Onto The Barbie

bbq_pack_logo

PayDay 2 was my love for quite a while. I enjoyed its new take on first-person shooters, focusing more on cooperative play than competitive. It’s something that hasn’t seen a great deal of love since the Left 4 Dead and Killing Floor days. I had to move away, however, when the swathes of DLC put me off of the game. Catching up with all the content, only to be broadsided with a new weapons pack, was too much for me.

For those of you who still stayed true to the PayDay 2 gang, however, you’ll probably get a kick out of this one. The PayDay 2 ‘Butcher’s BBQ Pack’ was announced today. It adds a new grenade launcher, flamethrower, shotgun, incendiary ammo and 4 new masks.

Head over to the website to check it out and chill with some pretty cool music.

PlayStation 4 Becomes More Social, Still Can’t Make You Dinner

playstation4

On March 26th, the PlayStation 4 will be receiving new features. I’ve been told these features have been sought after. I cannot comment on the matter, because the last thing I hear in a console war is ‘my console has better interconnecting social features than yours’. It’s mostly all exclusive flinging and pixel measuring.

Regardless, if you own the fourth iteration of The Station Which Plays, check out this update scheduled for tomorrow. Named the ‘Yukimura update’, it features the following: Continue reading

NiGHTS Receives Awesome Statue, Nobody Remembers Who He Is

vertical
I’m not one for statues of videogame characters myself. I don’t really own any, and if I ever do, you’d bet they’d be small little tykes that fit nicely on top of my computer. For those who are on the lookout for something bigger and well-made, however, First 4 Figures may have the purchase for you.

LucasArts uses Games on GOG.com, Finally Solves Puzzle It Was Stuck On For Days

Point-and-click adventures are some of the earliest examples of gamers utilising trial and error. Which key will unlock the door to the castle? Which item does the witch need, given her cryptic and vague hints? When will you finally snap and resort to using every single item on the bodyguard in hopes to get past him? Continue reading

Everywear Games Enters Smartwatch Gaming, Knows What Time It is

everywear_logo_white_vectorWe used to be content with games that you can play in a gigantic cabinet. Then we decided that going to these cabinets was too much of a hassle, so we decided to put them in the home on our televisions. Still unconcent, we made potable gaming devices, and then we jumped ship onto the booming smartphone market. One company, however, wants to take it one step further, putting themselves on your wrist of all places. Continue reading

PEGI Moves To Mobile Games, Children Everywhere Cry Out In Horror

Print

Have you done the old PEGI-dodge on your parents before? You, a bright-eyed kid eager to play the latest videogames. Your parents, a vigilant bastion against all the violence and hatred in the world. You approach them with a copy of GTA, your thumb ‘conveniently’ placed over the PEGI rating. “I’d like this one,” you’d say, with the voice of an angel. “I love, uh, driving games.” Your parents never quite understood why you were so reluctant to play a driving game while they were around the house. And what game is it that keeps saying ‘Kill Frenzy’ while the parents laid in bed? Continue reading

AdWatch: Tournament Edition Has Things It Wants To Show You

screen480x480

There’s a game that has been released for Android and iOS devices. It’s called AdWatch: Tournament Edition. In the game — from what I can gather from sources and the website itself — the cute characters decided that people who play mobile games don’t engage in ‘repetitive gameplay’ for the sakes of a game, but so they can watch the ads the game throws at them. So, in AdWatch, the game just shows you ads. Continue reading
